You are actually observing the shadows of microscopic proteins inside your own body. These drifting shapes, known scientifically as muscae volitantes, are clumps of collagen floating in the vitreous humor. Bright light constricts your pupils, sharpening these shadows and allowing you to glimpse the internal composition of your eyes.
