It really happenedA clever marketing slogan can have unintended consequences. In 1967, an Ecuadorian town was so fed up with its political candidates that they took an ad for foot powder literally. The slogan, "Vote for any candidate, but if you want well-being and hygiene, vote for Pulvapies," inspired a mass protest vote. Voters wrote the product's name on their ballots, leading to an unlikely electoral victory for a consumer good.
