Researchers are copying the electric eel to create safe, flexible power sources. The eel stacks thousands of specialized cells, called electrocytes, to generate powerful shocks. By mimicking this system with hydrogels and salt, we're creating soft, non-toxic batteries. These could one day power medical implants like pacemakers, potentially eliminating the need for replacement surgeries.
