A carnivorous plant inspired a material that outperforms traditional non-stick coatings. The Nepenthes uses a locked-in water layer to create a friction-free trap where insects simply hydroplane. By mimicking this liquid-infused surface, engineers created SLIPS to prevent ice, oil, and bacteria from adhering to crucial medical and industrial equipment.
