Discover the simple science behind seeing your breath on a chilly day. The air you exhale is always warm and full of water vapor, but it's usually invisible. When this humid air hits the cold outside, it rapidly cools and can no longer hold all that moisture. The water vapor is forced to condense into a mist of millions of tiny liquid droplets or ice crystals. This process creates the visible puff you see, which is essentially your own personal, fleeting cloud.
