The Pedestal ProblemAdmiration can sometimes create emotional distance.
From the show
Rewiring Attachment PatternsUnderstanding why we idealize others can help us build more genuine connections. Placing someone on a pedestal is a psychological mechanism rooted in low self-esteem. We project our own unfulfilled needs onto them, seeking validation by association. This creates an emotional distance that prevents genuine connection. It also leads to a cycle of unrealistic expectations and disappointment when the idealized person inevitably reveals their flaws. The key is to see them as a whole person, not a perfect hero.
